X60 tablet front bezel replacement

#1 Post by Neflem » Sun Jul 11, 2010 9:19 pm

Hi guys,

I'll be replacing my front bezel for my X60 tablet soon.
My poor baby has two of the corners chipped/broken and I've left it for a while :(

Just wanted to know if there are any "gotcha's" I should be aware of.
Like, can I reuse the covers for the screws (will they still be sticky enough) or should I order a new set from Ebay?

I read in some posts about the screen separating from the bezel - more with x61t's, so with that said, will I require some type of double side sticky tape as part of my repair?

Thanks in advance.

Yes you can reuse the screw covers. Use an exacto knife and carefully remove them. My thoughts on double sided tape on the LCD bezel is that if it was there originally, obviously it serves a purpose. If it is not on the new bezel then I would put some fresh tape on there in the same spot/s. Since the old bezel is cracked you need not be very careful in removing it unless you don't want to crack it anymore. The only advice I can give in that situation is that those bezels are very thin and fragile plastic..so go s.l.o.w....
