...without completely taking it apart, that is?

If it's just a single hair and it is near an edge, sometimes you can just gently tap the surface of the LCD in the direction that you want it to go and the hair will slowly move ...

That might do more harm than good.

Well, the alternative definitely has more potential to do more harm than good. You'll have to completely disassemble the LCD and open up the frame and separate the diffusion layers to pluck the hair out manually. Dust is the enemy there. Do you have a clean room?

No clean room. I'm seriously thinking about trying to send this machine back, even though the eBay seller says no returns.

A hair in an LCD is pretty bad, and should definitely be disclosed. Unless he was selling it "completely as-is, no guarantee that anything works", you may stand a good chance disputing the purchase.

I actually had good luck with a T23 a while back. I placed the entire machine on it's side with the LCD open and I just tapped on the LCD...a lot. Eventually, the hair moved below the LCD bezel to where is was not visisble and never came back.
Obviously, it's best to ensure you're placing the bezel side closest to hair down, so the hair has a short journey.

Thanks Ed. I may end up trying that, if the seller won't take it back. Since I first posted this, I've discovered a stuck red pixel.

Go figure. Ed's taps are Ok, but mine "might do more harm than good".

I guess Ed has a double secret special tap ... LOL

He did say:
IBM T60P laptop is in great condition. No dead pixels on the screen.
One can claim that hair in the LCD is not "great condition" and that if one bothers to mention dead pixels, they should also account for dust/hair inside the screen, which is a far far far more bothering problem than a single dead pixel can ever be.
I am sure the seller will claim that there was no hair when the machine was sent. They could be right, but since it is obviously not your fault, you may have a case.
And since you say you've discovered a stuck red pixel - you may have a stronger case.
I'd say - try all options - talk to the seller, but you may also get it to disappear by doing the tapping thing / shaking the laptop gently.
How big is it anyways? How close to the edge? Can you take a picture?

Sorry Harry

. I may have misunderstood Ed. I thought he meant to tap it on the
side.

So many ThinkPads...that old thread reminds of how I got to tapping. The first time I found a hair in the LCD it moved after shipping. For the second LCD hair experience, I was able to tap it aside. It's worth a shot, I mean tap.
