Possible to turn on Thinkight with software?

My newly acquired X60s' PgUp key doesn't work as fluently as a normal key should, I have to press really really hard to make it work, trust me it's that hectic, which leads to the my question that is it possible to turn on ThinkLight with the help of software or is there an alternative combination .
Thanks in advance for any pointers or help!

I'm not aware of any software to switch that lamp on.
But you can buy a complete, individual key with it's mechanism on eBay:

You could also blow hard under that key, to remove any dust/dirt has accumulated there.
You may need to pull the key off to check for larger debris such as toast crumbs.

Thanks for your reply!
Sounds like a great plan to buy an individual key with entire internal mechanism, in the meantime in order to inspect what's wrong with the key I took off the cap but didn't find any residue or leftover under it, I will try using my hair blower to see if that helps.

If you're using Windows Vista you can download and install the mobility center customization from Lenovo's support site. It will let you turn the ThinkLight on and off through Windows mobility center.

ThinkPad Fan Control v0.62 lets you activate from the systray (2 clicks, ~like the sound volume controls)

admitedly unexpected feature.
Of course for linux users, you can manipulate most of the hardware with scripts; in the spirit of few
"echo on > /proc/acpi/ibm/light"
Ahhh the wonders of text hardware interfaces

Win7 is a variation of Vista, maybe Lenovo Mobility Center could work.
Thanks goes to Troubadix for ThinkPad Fan Control, he wrote the software (many people like it so much they give loads of paypal dows to him)

Guys, you should browse around the forum some more. I created a tool to control the ThinkLight long time ago:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 26&start=0
The thread talks mainly about blinking the ThinkLight for incoming mails but the first post also has a link to ThinkLight.exe which is a command line utility to turn the light on/off/toggle. You can then use some hotkey assignment software to execute the command when needed.

Wonderful
I guess the thinkwiki entry is buried too deep to be seen.

I still use Windows (Live) Mail, and would love to know if there was something similar.
