ThinkVantage Client Security Solutions/TPM Issues

#1 Post by hunterman223 » Thu Sep 16, 2010 11:13 pm

Hi, CSS 8.3 is not detecting my TPM. I have tried almost every version made with Windows XP, and am now using the only version compatible with 7. It is the same thing in both OS's; CSS shows "Software Based" instead of hardware. I have also tried clearing the chip, restoring bios defaults, downgrading the bios, and upgrading it again.

Also, if anyone knows anything about the power issues I am having here, your help would be greatly appreciated.

I suppose you have installed the CSS on the ThinkPad R40 that's in your signature. The R40 doesn't meet system requirements for the ThinkVantage CSS 8.3. The R40 meets system requirements for CSS 6.01.0042 under Windows XP.

Yep, that's correct. It's funny though, I have just finally got it to work with CSS 8.2 under XP, but no ammont of resetting/enabling/disabling of the tpm can get it to cooperate with Windows 7. Maybe it is possible that it just won't work with 8.3. I was just about to download it again so I can do (another) reinstall. Maybe I'll give the Vista version of 8.2 a shot.
