For identical configs is the T510 worth $270 more than the SL510?

A good question. I am happy with my T510i but looking at the reviews the SL510 looks an excellent alternative. Perhaps you have discovered a gem? :)

If you care about better battery life, fuller keyboard layout, matte screen, swappable ultrabay devices and docking station connector - then yes.

If you prefer a glossy screen and HDMI instead of DisplayPort, go for the SL.

A small correction: most SL510 models in slbook.pdf have matte (anti-glare) screens (one is sitting next to my x31 right now). As far as I remember, you cannot choose a matte screen when configuring an SL510 online though.

Ah, yes they do. :)

SL410 seem to be glossy only. With SL510 you can choose. :)

I didn't realize some of the SL510 configs used the glossy screen. I'll have to watch for that because I don't like glossy screens much.

I wasn't reading closely enough. The SL510 has the 2.1GHz Intel T6570 Core 2 Duo Processor and the T510 has the Intel Core i5 2.40GHz Processor.

Both are fast for what I want to do today but the Core i5 has the benefit of future proofing.

You do tend to get what you pay for.

That depends. Do you want a well-built business notebook with a magnesium-alloy rollcage, or do you want a consumer laptop?
