R&R

#1 Post by thetimerider » Sun Sep 26, 2010 9:49 am

On my R51 that i bought several months ago i have a 60 Gig HDD, it had 56 Gigs showing when i got it. I did an R&R to get rid of the previous owners name in start up functions and what not, the HD went down to 53 something Gigs, and then when updating from IBM things got all screwed up, and a computer guy said it needed a restore and now the HD is down to 50 Gigs. I assume the recovery partition is increasing in size, is this normal?

Thanks

Unlikely. More likely is you have incremental backups set up to run in R&R, then yes it will start to eat up disk space. Look in R&R on Windows and delete any unneeded backups.

Thanks Harry
Im not that much of a (tech) guy, but i will see if i can find it.

Does windows put backed up files on a hidden part of the drive, because its not free space dissipating, it is actual HD size after a clean install with my R&R disc and before i reload my files or anything to the computer? When R&R re formats the drive could it be blocking out bad sectors?
