Access Connections: Automatic Wi-Fi connection at start up

Hello!
I have a ThinkPad T42p laptop computer with Machine Type: 2373-HSG and Serial Number: 99***** and my operating system is Windows XP Professional SP3.
My system is up to date as I have downloaded and installed all the very latest available updates from the Microsoft Update website as well as all the most recent versions of all its drivers and utilities from the Lenovo website.
So, among them, I have upgraded the Access Connections utility, by means of which I connect to the Internet through my home network Wi-Fi access point, to its very latest version 5.62 by uninstalling first the existing older version, using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, and installing then the latest version 5.62.
However, while the older version did not automatically connect to the Internet through Wi-Fi at Windows start up and I had to manually click its icon on the system tray and then select my profile and click Connect in order to connect, this latest 5.62 version now automatically connects to the Internet through Wi-Fi at Windows start up.
And I wonder:
1) Is this change of behaviour caused by a technical problem in my system or is it just a normal improvement of this new Access Connections version over the old one?
2) Is it possible to do something in order to prevent this new 5.62 version of Access Connections from automatically connecting to the Internet through Wi-Fi at Windows start up? If yes, please let me know what as well as how I should proceed to achieve that?
I would greatly appreciate any help and advice that could be offered to me about it.
All the best!
