Hitachi Announces New 750GB Notebook Hard Drives

Hitachi has introduced two new lines of notebook hard drives: the 7200RPM 7K750 and 5400RPM 5K750 series.
The drives will be available in 500GB/640GB/750GB capacities with up to 375GB per platter. The drives feature a SATA 3.0Gbps interface and use the Advanced Format, with the new 4k sector size; it improves performance and reliability of high-capacity drives.

The 7K750 series is the high-performance line with a 7200RPM speed and 16MB buffer. Hitachi says the drive consumes 1.8W of power while reading/writing.

The 5K750 is Hitachi's new mainstream drive; it has a 5400RPM speed and 8MB buffer. The company claims a low power consumption of 0.5W at idle and a 1.4W read/write.

The 5K750 will be available this November for MSRP $129.99. The 7K750 line will be available in Q1 2011; pricing has not been announced.
Not sure if these are actual 9.5mm drives but i'm guessing so they already have 1TB drives in the 12.5m drives and since they are using the 7KXXX/5KXXX naming scheme. The price though looks impossible!

These use 4k sectors. The average latency with these will be higher...
