Rescue and Recovery

Is a full backup taken with R&R the same as an image taken with a tool like Ghost?

Does anyone know how to make the RR backup files visible? I'd like to copy them over to a long term archive drive.

@TrailRunner: I have never used 'Ghost' but R&R takes a full backup the first time it runs. Thereafter it makes incremental backups.

It is possible to see the files and to copy them to an external device. Start R&R and launch Advanced settings. At the top of the advanced screen there is a tab for Advanced and there you have an option to copy files from hard drive. I make copies regularly to an external HDD with a bootable partition.

I hope this is clear and helps. Get back to us if you still have problems or questions.

Could someone give advice on what to do if Rescue and Recovery doesn't seem to want to run on their system?

That's what is going on with my computer right now.

I have another question regarding RR: Mine takes >25GB of space, is that really necessary?

It probably just depends on how much there is to backup, but does this really permanently block >25GB?

Since this thread has already been hijacked, I have a question related to the subject as well. After reinstalling Windows 7 and all drivers, I wanted to create a baseline backup on DVD to use for a system restore. The backup took two DVDs, and R&R asked me to name them "SP 1" and "SP Final". To test my backups, I attempted a full restore. It asked me to insert "C Final" (so I inserted "SP Final" since I have no "C Final") and then it ran a restore and then rebooted. Sooo, why did it not prompt me for "SP 1", which seems to be the disc with the majority of the image?
