SD card reader not working

#1 Post by Paul Unger » Mon Jan 24, 2011 11:34 pm

I reinstalled Windows XP on my T61. Now the 4-in-1 card reader does not work... I have installed (and uninstalled and reinstalled) the latest driver, but it still doesn't want to cooperate. I have a 4GB SD card that is formatted but that shows up as unformatted on the T61. When I try to format it, there is only the option to format it as a 512MB card in FAT (not FAT32) format. The 4GB card shows up properly formatted on my x201.

Does anyone have a hint as to what to try next? I don't want to ruin my SD card, but it's a pain in the butt that the card reader doesn't work on my T61 (I've tried other cards with the same results). Any suggestions (dependent drivers, etc.) would be much appreciated!

Paul

Edit: I've been messing around with an Ubuntu CD lately and found that the card reader works fine in Ubuntu 10.10. So it's definitely a Windows thing... Any ideas what settings affect the 4-in-1 card reader? Because at this point I know that the card and the reader are both working in other environments--they're just not working together in a Windows XP environment. :(

Did you do all the Windows updates? Do them all and that might fix the problem.
