Instal momentus xt in think pad T43

Costco is advertising a momentus 500gb 7200 rpm drive $129. My T43 has 50 meg and it would solve my adding more memory by simply buying an external drive. Does this make sense to do? I didn't know if speed would improve with the momentus. A good by product.
Is this compatible and Has anyone done this?

Yes...it will work if used as an external USB drive. How about perhaps finding a compatible larger HD from one of the forum members? If all you want is occasional storage for large files it will probably do the job.

A better solution might be upgrading to a newer model ThinkPad that uses SATA hard drives...then you can get a seriously larger hard drive that will give you lots of room.

Just my two cents...
