Windows Wireless Service has created its own profile in AC

#1 Post by Paul Unger » Mon May 09, 2011 12:00 am

Windows Wireless Service has created its own profile in Access Connections (v. 5.62) on my x201 (intel Ultimate-N 6300 agn card). It has become the default and I am unable to delete it (Delete is greyed out when I have it selected in Location Profiles). Any advice? [I loved AC, until now... ]

I think you have to use AC to set a different profile first.

Two months isn't too long to revisit this, is it? I'm still plagued by the Windows Wireless Service... I have 9 other profiles, but from time to time WWS creates itself and is undeletable ("Delete" is greyed out when WWS is selected in Location Profiles). If I connect to a different profile or remove the check-mark from WWS in Location Profiles, WWS will go away after a while. But then it will get created again later... I found this at the Lenovo Forum, but I have followed the instructions to no avail. Does anyone have a hint as to what's going on? Thanks.

Try to make another profile the default, you might then be able to delete the self-created bugger.

Thanks for the response, RealBlackStuff. By "default" do you mean "Preferred WLAN profile" (in Tools > Location Switching)? I have set the priority of my profiles (of course, WWS doesn't appear in this list; it seems to be an elusive bugger, in terms of getting rid of it  ).

That's what I meant, but if it doesn't show...
Maybe this helps? http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkVantag ... d-p/223420

That's the link I referenced above. :P I guess burying it in the word 'this' (of my second post above; the one you responded to) doesn't help... Guess I should change the colour when I do that. Anyway, as I said, I had the settings that that post was asking about. I'll keep looking for a solution. Thanks for your help!
