TPad Battery Store/Seller Recomendation

#1 Post by tomcat2k01 » Mon May 16, 2011 5:34 pm

I recently acquired an R51 on the cheap and would like to purchase an inexpensive new battery. Anyone have any recommendations for a particular web store or Ebay seller that has quality products.

Cheap and good quality is not often heard in this modern world... new ebay batteries often lacking in quality has been my experience...

One company that I have bought a ThinkPad 760XL Li-Ion pack for is impactcomputers.com... price is not their stong point, but I can vouch for the quality... I bought a reconditioned battery pack and it give me roughly 2.5 hours with an SSD type drive on my old 760's

the R51 is about $150 new and $70 reconditioned for the 9 cell, I don't know if that is "cheap" for an R51... but i suspect it is not, like I said, price is NOT their strong point :P

If you want a cheap 9-cell: http://cgi.ebay.com/Battery-IBM-Thinkpa ... 0770055287
I buy my regular T4x/R5x 6-cell batteries from eBayer johnxsc: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0600761407
Unfortunately he doesn't have them in 9-cell.

And then there are the Boston Power Sonata batteries: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=81968
One BPS supplier: http://www.laptopcharge.com/category/no ... eries.aspx

Don't mean to steal the thread, but it is relavent to the OP...

RealBlackStuff: have you used laptopcharge's batteries? They list one for my 760's, but it is $90... can you confirm their quality? (2 week lead time, they apparently make to order :P )

Currently my 'oldest' ThinkPad is a T23. No Laptopcharge/Dr.Battery batts for that.
I've sold anything prior to the T23. I have no interest in keeping relics alive, and I'm not an 'oldie' collector...
Currently I have T23/X31/X4x/T4x/R5x/T6x/X6x machines.

Thanks RBS, eBayer johnxsc's R51 battery falls nicely in my price range. Definitely would consider the Boston Power battery for a personal machine I plan to keep awhile if they manufacture one for my model.

I meant have you ordered in general from laptopcharge.com... can you vouch for the company... not for my 760, but their batteries in general :)

Read the threads I linked to, especially GomJabbar's posts. He's no longer a satisfied customer...
I never ordered from them.

So, for others reading, good batteries, warranty from h***

The guy has waited for like 6 months and still no replacement on a defect battery (just an option to downgrade or use a loaner while waiting)... that would put it at the bottom of my recomendation list too :P
