Hi,
I just upgraded the hard drive on my T30 from 20G to a 72k rpm 60G model. Old drive and new drive using the NTSF file system and XP pro SP2.
I used the IBM bundled EZ Gig software and the second HDD adapter to back up the old drive to the new drive and then installed the new drive. It works but the primary partition that was created is exactly the same size as my old 20G HD was and a whole bunch of logical drives were created out of most of the rest of the space on the new drive.
Anyway, I then used partition magic to get the new HD down to one big partition using all available space, but I was wondering what happened to cause this situation, i.e., why didn't EZ Gig create one large new partition on the new drive in the first place? Also, is there a better way to do this in the future?
Question re upgrading to larger HD
