Hi,
I have a question.
On the lenovo usb 2.0 40y8693 power plug DC IN "16 Vdc, 1000ma"
The AC adapter 40y8689 the output is 5 Vdc.
which is right?

The DC in jack on the drive says 16v?
the manual says:
AC/Aux Power - 5Vdc, 850mA average, 1300mA max
USB Standard Bus Power - 5Vdc, 850mA average, 1300mA max
The drive should have come with a usb cable (possibly one with a second USB power connection, like a Y cable), the drive should also work with just this, the AC power adapter is optional (some machines may need it)
The manual is here:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-67282
The specs are in Appendix page A1
Did you buy these new or used/refurbished?

I would go with what the drive says then, most usb devices i have that can use an external power supply optionally are 5v power supplies... like my hubs, my usb pcmcia adapter, and a KVM switch.

Just a quick note.
The dvd burnner 40Y8693 uses a 16Vdc power adapter (40Y8696).
Price from levono $77 + shipping.
I made a jumper cable using a coax style dc power plug
(274-1532) radio shack. $3.00 + a spare power plug $5.00 (e-bay).
Works great.

Good idea for a "universal" adaptor
And 16v woulda been my guess as that's what the drive said

Glad you got it working
