Nothing via Windows update or did you try the sound card manufacturer's website?

Ive been everywhere.
Windows update didnt help. Than I went to Thinkpad drivers and downloads not a single driver for Win XP64.
And after that ive been cruising Google back and forward looking for the driver but no luck.

At the moment Im running Windows Vista that has all the drivers but vista for me is a little too fancy and I feel like I can get more speed and response from running win 64.

I dont know I guess Im just so used to the XP and XP64.

XP64 hardware support in general is much worse than XP32 or 64-bit Vista/7. You'll probably need to identify the exact sound chip used and get drivers from its manufacturer. XP64 is really more like Windows Server 2003 than XP so you might look for 64-bit 2003 drivers (probably won't find many of those for laptop components either though). I would strongly recommend just using XP32 when you can and Vista/7 when you absolutely must have 64-bit.

Yeah ive been running Windows Vista since I couldnt find the drivers. Its not bad just trying to disable as much stuff I dont need to make it run a bit faster.
Ive been disabling all the programs and all the fancy graphics to make it run smoother.
Any idea on what else I could do to improve the performance of my laptop?
Also by disabling all the useless stuff it lets the battery last a bit longer.

What would be a better choice of an operating system? Win Vista seem to run fine but it sometimes kicks and freezes for no reason. And updates are starting to annoy me. More and more updates just keep popping up.

Personally I run 32-bit XP as my primary OS with dual-boot to 64-bit Windows 7 for testing/experimenting with stuff that requires it. (The exception is on my Precision M4400 which has XP64; having used it for over a year with several issues I'm planning to wipe it out and install 32-bit.)

Any version of Windows will have lots of updates; the only way to reduce that is to run the latest Service Pack if you aren't already.

Well I have decided to stick with vista because xp 32 does not support all the RAM i have put in it.
I am using 4GB of Ram and windows vista can support it all... Unlike XP32 can only run on 3GB of ram/

Thats why I wanted to use XP64 to get the ultimate performance but since there arent many drivers and barely any support I have decided to stick with Vista. Even tho im not fully happy with it.

PS: Whatever happened with Windows Longhorn and Windows FD Professional?
Are there any more underground versions of Windows?
I have used Superior Windows XP64 that had most drivers implemented and was able to use the rest from Vista but again the sound card driver was no where to be found.

Vista 32 does not allow you to use any more memory than XP 32 AFAIK; it just shows that you have it where XP may not have. Either way user programs are limited to 2 GB (or 3 GB if compiled/linked with the right option) and physical memory is limited to 4 GB.
