T43 Power Manager Setup Failure
T43 Power Manager Setup Failure
I'm having problem setting Power Manager Software on my T43 XP Pro system. Used System Update but spits an error saying can't copy file Tphkload.exe to destination directory. Likewise too with On Screen Display utility. Though I got some success of installing some of Lenovos utilities. Could you please help me. Thanks. Rayray
Re: T43 Power Manager Setup Failure
Hi Rayray, welcome to the forum.
Do you have the current version of System Update installed? That would be version 3.15. If you do, and it still isn't working, I would just directly download the apps from the Lenovo Support web site, and install them without System Update. Be sure to read the "readme" docs, and following the installation directions carefully.

Re: T43 Power Manager Setup Failure
Hi Neil,
Thanks for responding to my querry. Yes, I have the latest version of System Update Ver 3.15 and still could not install Power Manager correctly. I did go to Lenovos Support web site and downloaded and install Thinkpad Power Management Driver but I don't see any Battery Gauge Icon on the system tray so I download and install Power Manager Ver 1.991 and here's where I see an error saying that "cannot copy to the destination folder" though it would install anyways and I could see an icon on Program Files ThinkVantage folder and when I click on the icon, it would generate an exception that could not be handled. "Power Manager generated and exception that could not be handled. Process ID = 3752 Thread = 4020.
I really do appreciate you're trying to help me out, Neil. I just do miss my PM Icon and Battery Gauge on the System Tray. Thanks.

Re: T43 Power Manager Setup Failure
IIRC, the power management driver and battery maximizer are in different folders even though part of the same download. After installing the power management features, look a couple of directories deep in the drivers folder for BMM, it's in there that you will find the battery gauge, etc.
Just going on a rather faded memory here. Maybe later I can check a ThinkPad a little closer and be more spcific.
