Upgrade Thinkpad to a SATA interface ?

#1 Post by nickbw » Mon Nov 21, 2011 7:53 am

Has anyone been successful in adapting a thinkpad to use a SATA to HDD?
I am very keen to replace the main HDD with a SSD. Has anyone done this?

Since you are posting this question in the T4x section, I assume that you are refering to T4x ThinkPad's. In such case, the reply is: Yes, see e.g. the thread 1.8" SATA to 2.5" IDE converter? (if in a hurry, you may skip the first few pages and read from this post).

Also see the threads T42 SSD Conversion Success (1.8" SATA drive + bridge board) and How to use 2.5" SATA SSD as main boot drive for T42 and Modify T43 mainboard to enable SATA drives? pointing to Give your T43/T43p/R52/X41 the SATA it deserves!. Also, see the thread Completely modified T43, it can directly install the SATA hard disk.

Please post your questions in one of the exosting threads, in stead of starting a new one... thanks in advance.
