R61 Screen
R61 Screen
My wife's R61 display started getting a pinkish tint on the left side about a fourth of the way in,and when i cut it off and turned it back on it would get to the signup screen and then it went black.Anybody know what the problem could by,or ever hear of this before?

Re: R61 Sceen
The CCFL (backlight tube) is dying or dead and needs to be replaced.
This being a very intense technical job, the next best thing is to replace just the LCD.
As that's still too daunting for most, find a complete working replacement lid+LCD.

Re: R61 Sceen
If it's a 14" WXGA, I happen to have a replacement option listed here -> http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=100597
FYI, for 14" models, you can use any entire assembly from a similar sized R61, R61i, or T61. Differences may include, antenna count, resolution, camera and Bluetooth. You can also use any widescreen 14" CCFL panel from T400/R400's or before.
For 15.4" models, you can use any Lenovo CCFL LCD from any 15.4" ThinkPad.

Re: R61 Screen
There is good, recent info on 15.4" panels here (R61's can use the same panels as T61's) --> http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=100796
Panel swaps on 15.4" machines aren't too difficult.
