anybody problems with no1802.com and T-series??

#1 Post by glotzi » Sat Apr 09, 2005 6:53 am

hello,

i have a thinkpad r32 and wonder if anybody had a similar problem with patching CMOS to use a non-IBM-approved wlan mini-pci card in his t-series?

i have bought a 54mbit w-lan card (mini-pci) for my thinkpad r32.
it is "medion" brand.

as expected, after installing the card and switching on my thinkpad, the error 1802 appeared.

i then removed the card and made a bootable cd-rom using nero.

then i was able to boot to dos (candera dr-dos) and run the no1802.com cmos patch.

after re-installing the card and turning on the thinkpad the 1802 error appeared again :-(

can anybody help? has anybody fixed a similar problem (also t-series)?

thanks in advance and regards,

andy

FYI-

A short while back, I sold an IBM (Atheros) b/g wifi pci adapter to a guy on eBay. It turns out he had an R32 and he couldn't do anything to get it to work, including trying no-1802.com. I've successfully used no-1802.com on an R40. My T40 and R30 didn't need any bios hack to work with this adapter. He ultimately returned the card to me for a refund.

Maybe the R32's have a uniquely tough bios to hack as the no-1802 utililty works on several models. Just thought you'd like to know you're not alone.

thank you for this information!

it seems to me that nobody managed to patch a R32 yet.

a31, r40, t30, .... all have been patched without any problems...

if some experts read this - any help would be highly appreciated.
