Anyone know why my 60GB 7200RPM HDD is marked "NO" under "IBM Serviceable"?
It is ordered with my CTO T43 from IBM.
Does the HDD carry its own warranty separate from the machine through IBM?

Welcoming any insights

No. The HDD does not carry a warranty seperate from the rest of the ThinkPad.

I do not know what 'IBM Serviceable' means exactly. I suspect it refers to wether IBM can take apart that particular part and fix it. Note that the Windows Certificate of Authenticity is also not IBM Serviceable.
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

No HD is serviceable, they're simply replaced.

If your HD expires during the term of your warranty, IBM will replace it.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a CTO T43? I (probably stupidly) looked in the tabook and didn't find anything called CTO. Reason for asking is that I want to look at the notebook that davidlg16 has. The specs are exactly what I want, and I'm deciding between T42 and T43. But I dunno what your model number is... :?:
