Wireless Turns Off - Access Connections?

#1 Post by andyli » Sun Apr 10, 2005 8:49 am

I'm having a strange problem with my Wireless on my T42p. Its the IBM/Atheros 802.11a/b/g card.

The card likes to "turn off" by itself. Access Connections looses the ability to control the power state (I get the error message when pressing FN+F5). However, the wireless light remains on.

The only way for me to reset this is for me to go into the wireless card's properties and change the value of "Radio Power" to "Off" from "On." This appears to syncronize the actual state of the radio with what Access Connections thinks the power state is. The radio gets turned on right away again -- with Access Connections powering it.

This normally happens overnight, but I've had it happen during the day as well. I've upgraded and reinstalled Access Connections and the Drivers as provided by IBM.

I run my wireless card with 'Power-save mode DISABLED' and have eliminated the problem, go to Thinkpad Configuration, find the device driver properties for your wireless device, and alter the setting as shown.

Thanks--

I turned it off a few weeks ago, and just double-checked to make sure that it was off. I thought that the system disconnecting might be because of that, but it isn't.

Anything else you've tried that seems to have worked?
