True crypt and the IBM restore partition

#1 Post by fefrie » Tue Dec 20, 2011 8:21 pm

I'm going to encrypt the C drive portion of my drive which is not the whole portion of my drive as the IBM hidden partition will not be encrypted.

Will the recovery images made with IBM rescue and recovery be encrypted too? I'd prefer it to be.

hi there
Not sure what you be using to 'encrypt' your HD... but if you sing IBM (BIOS option) than you DONT HAVE MUCH CHOICE , and from memory - its a HARDWARE OPTION - so whole hard drive be encrypted.

Software apps areound like TRUE CRYPT - gives you more flexibility to choose partitions etc ...

not sure WHY you want to encrypt the 'recovery partition' never knew anyone who worried about that side.....as if things are THAT IMPORTANT - I would keep it on any laptop! - thats what the MOUNTIES do !
keep it off line !
Hope this helps
Cheers
