Battery charge level thresholds on T40

#1 Post by TTY » Wed Dec 21, 2011 7:46 pm

Hello,
i searched the forum but couldn't find any answer. Is it possible to set battery charge level thresholds on a T40?

I think so...though I guess I have not done it. I do have thresholds set on my X40 which is from the same era. There should be options for that in battery maximizer. I'm not on a Windows machine right now, though, so I can't really verify.
Collection = T500 - R400 - X300 - X200 - T61 (14" WXGA+) - T61 (14.1" SXGA+) - T60 (15" SXGA+) - X40 - T43p - T43 - T42p - A30P - 600E

I can't find any way of setting charge level thresholds in Battery Maximizer. Could have to do with the fact that IBM replaced the motherboard as the notebook was one week old. The reason for motherboard replacement was, that the notebook wouldn't start up after lightning had hit the telephone line that the computer had been connected to. The I/O Controller Hub (ICH4-M) on the replacement board seems to be a development stepping, not a production stepping. I suppose that could be the reason why it's not possible to set the charge level thresholds.

Are you using BMM V1.38? If so, open Power Manager, click the Battery tab then click the "Battery Maintenance.." button on that page. There you should see the Charge thresholds. At least that is how it works on my X40.

I believe T42 and X40 were the first corresponding T/X series machines which allowed custom charge thresholds.
Current: X220 4291-4BG, T410 2537-R46, T60 1952-F76, T60 2007-QPG, T42 2373-F7G
Collectibles: T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X32 (IPS Screen)
Retired: X61 7673-V2V, A31p w/ Ultrabay Numpad
Past: Z61t 9440-A23, T60 2623-D3U, X32 2884-M5U

Thank you. :-) I don't have the T40 here now, but i remember having searched the settings up and down and back and forth to no avail. I get to see that notebook about once a year, so i haven't found time to update Battery Maximizer to 1.38 yet. Version 1.37 is installed now.

If that's the case, it relieves me of the feeling of having been cheated on by the repair shop. Thank you. :-) It would also explain why the help system claims it would be possible to set charge level thresholds, while on this T40, setting these thresholds actually isn't possible.
