Question for T4x owners - orange glow through the heat vent

I have a question for any T4x owners out there. Can you take a look into the heat vent above the audio jacks and see if you notice anything in there that looks like it's emitting an orange glow? It looks about an inch into the case from the vent.

I have a T41 and when I look into the vent there is this orange glow. Not sure if it's really a glow, a reflection or just the color of a part. But it strikes me as a little odd. It's there whether the unit is on or off.

I think what you are seeing is the copper heatsink/fan exhaust fins.

As much as I wanted to give an answer that would make you question your sanity, I will show an enormous amount of restraint and simply inform you that the heat pipe on the T4X series is copper and you're seeing a reflection.

Looks distinctly like an orange glow...

Different than the dull orange copper of the heatsink, I think.

I don't see any sort of glow. I'm working at my kitchen table right now, and I turned off the lights and looked into the vent just to be sure, and I don't see anything.

Could you describe the glow in more detail? Is it a bright light like an LED, or is it a soft glow like one of those glowsticks that people use on halloween, or something else?

The glow looks like the orange glow of heated metal. It looks like there is a piece of metal. There is a half inch long scratch-like curvy line that glows this orange. It is indeed strange. Never noticed it on my T40 and it's not present on my X40.

Tried taking a picture but I wasn't able to really capture what it looks like.

Well, it's a fairly obvious thing if you look into the vent, and if no one else has it, then I guess there is something up with my unit.

If you look in the 4 hole vents, it's the glow from the right two vents. The orange on the left is just a reflection.

Is it there when the lights are out?

I'm looking at my T40, T41p and T42P and none of them are exhibiting anything other than a reflection.

Can you see the glow in a dark room? I have tried looking more closely and I see nothing. However, I'm using a T40. Maybe someone with a T41 will have something different to report.

Good suggestion. The glow is not present in the dark.

However, there is still something unusual/fishy with this orange glow/reflection/coloring.

Like others said, the orange glowing is the reflection from the copper heatsink. There is nothing wrong with that and is perfectly normal.
