CPU replacement - T42 14"

#1 Post by awolfe63 » Sun Apr 10, 2005 11:12 pm

The T42 FRU manual says that the 14.1" LCD assembly should be removed before replacing the CPU. Anybody know why? Has anyone done the CPU swap on a T4X?

Andrew,

AFAIK you only need to remove it to get it out of the way, it's not necessary for access to the CPU.

Well - I did it. I didn't need to remove the LCD. The fan was the hardest part.

I now have a 2.1GHz T42! Feels faster - but that could just be my brain not wanting to feel silly about spending $500 for a new CPU. :?

(Anybody want to buy a 1.7GHz Dothan?)
