2373-M3U Occasional Freezes

I have a 2373-M3U, the machine will occasionally freeze for a split second or two. Not sure what is causing this but the 2373-K1U that I returned recently did the same thing. anyone have any ideas?

how much memory do you on the system,

If the machine is used on a on a lap / being held in hand etc... it could be due the hard drive protection which temporarily disables any access to data.

check for any spyware / memory hogging programs running continously,
what is the virus scanner ? Mcafee or Norton .. with mcafee sometimes it is very slow and degrades with time, seems like frozen when working with word, outlook etc..

If none of the above and machine will freeze in pure dos ( boot from win98 and run any program which will run for sometime, like a scandisk etc.. ) then it might be a hardware problem ( hard disk / cooling system)
