Will a Intel Pentium M 755 work with my T41?

#1 Post by le_porquer » Wed Jan 11, 2012 7:50 pm

Hi,

Have a standard T41. Running 2GB Ram, FireGL128 from a r51p mobo, and currently running 1.6 Dothan.

Rather than chuck I want to upgrade to a 2.0 or a 2.1 Dothan. Since the 2.1 is like £100 and the 2.0 is £10 - you can guess which one I want.

Will a M 755 slot straight into my T41 mobo and operate to full capacity?

Many thanks,
Steve.

Modified T41: Pent M 1.7Ghz Banias | 768 DDR2 RAM | ATI Fire GL-T2 128MB | 60GB SATA | Win7

I guess you meant R50p mobo - not R51p...

To answer your question - PM755 (SL7EM) will work just fine.

All T4x and R5x motherboards are interchangeable and have the same dimensions.
Exception: Firewire ports as found on some R5x boards have no matching opening/space in T4x cases.
Solution: take out the tearaway Firewire port from over the PCMCIA cage.
Warning: Intel graphics are not suited for anything other than XGA LCDs.
Exception: 15" SXGA+ LCD attached to an R52 motherboard with Intel gfx.

Edit 01/26/12:
Need to add some more info:
T40/T41/T42/R50/R51 motherboards all use the same RAM and CPU and are interchangeable (but see exception above)
T43/R52 motherboards also use the same RAM and CPU and are interchangeable (but see exception above)
Exception: T43/R52 RAM and CPU are different from the other T4x/R5x

10 pounds is a good price for a SL7EM. They are a bit more costly here.

Not sure about that, but since it's that time of year again, our own RBS (and I'm NOT talking about a certain UK bank  ) has been nominated for the Prestigious TPF Plastic Planar Award for "Best Advise from a Forum Member".

And the award goes to........
