No sound in IBM ThinkPad Port Replicator II

Hi!!

I have a IBM Thinkpad T43 [1871-A32] with Linux, Debian Squeeze & IBM ThinkPad Port Replicator II [74P6733]. If I connect the external speaker in Port Replicator I do not have sound in external device, but yes in the laptop. I need to connect the external device in audio port from Thinkpad to use the external speaker.

I need to do something to configure the audio output or must be automatic? I am running Linux no Windows. It is broken the port replicator?

Welcome to the forums! where are you from?

Looking at this Thinkwiki, Port Rep 2 has pass throughs for both audio in and out so there shouldn't be any issues there.

I have found the connections between the laptop and PRep aren't always very good, and on my set up I have to be careful to knock the laptop part since I can lose the video to the external monitor which is connected to the rep. I do however use a Think Dock 2 with Linux Ubuntu which works fine however it doesn't compare directly with your Port Rep.
