I am working on a T43 2687-D8u. It is presenting a hard drive failure error 0200. If the battery is removed then replaced and then rebooted the machine will boot normally most times. I have run PC doctor under windows and ran hard drive and system board tests. All come back as passed. The only other significant issue is that no sound card is found in either Windows or with a mint CD. I suspect the Southbridge as I think have ruled out the hard drive. Does anyone have any other ideas of tests I could run?
Thanks,
T43 bad Hard drive or Southbridge?

Boot from a "live" Linux CD as well as the audio test from PC Doctor bootable CD...if there's no sound there either, start looking for a new board, since the SouthBridge is on its way out...
Good luck.
Good luck.

Remove keyboard and palmrest and wifi card.
Then reconnect keyboard, and put pressure on various parts of the big Intel chip under the wifi card (=Southbridge) while trying to boot.
If it now works, the Southbridge has become unstuck and needs reballing (if you can find a company) or get a replacement mobo.
