Battery charging and backup problem

#1 Post by kanewilliam » Tue Jan 24, 2012 8:42 pm

the old ibm battery is also giving the same exact problem like this just i have exchanged the internal cells in the battery not the whole battery . i have put the cells from the compaq battery to the ibm battery and has been soldered in the ibm battery buy removing the old cells . lenovo power manager recognizes it as a ibm battery and recognizes the cells are in good condition and only problem is its not charging the battery and taking backup from the battery . And freezes the operating system while loading the operating system and if i insert the battery after the OS is loaded it works ok but the same problem . "plugged in but not charging " and the battery capacity remains 69% but no backup from the battery if the ac adapter is pulled out .Any help will be much appreciated .

You need a *proper* battery.

Keep on playing with that one and you'll blow a fuse or two on the board.

Good luck.

No.

I'm telling you that there's definitely a problem with the battery.

Whether there's a problem with the board remains unknown until it's tested with a proper, genuine, known-to-be-good battery.

Good luck.

Please keep all your questions in ONE thread.

In your other thread
kanewilliam wrote:My t43 old battery was not charging anymore so i have kept it a side . I have bought a 12 cell battery for my old compaq v2000 and it was working fine , suddenly my compaq laptop died , so i have got a plan to exchange the battery from the compaq to ibm battery . I have done it through a professional and the output is 10.8 volts correctly . when i insert the new battery in ibm t43 after booting it freezes in windows and the amber charging light always shows like its charging but its not charging the battery if i remove the ac adaptor the laptop immediately dies without giving backup from the battery . Its not even charging the battery and its not giving backup from the battery what could be wrong help me with this .
In this thread you claim "i have exchanged the internal cells in the battery", in other words, you claim YOU are a professional.
If you HAD been, you would also have known that the electronics in an IBM battery need to be kept "alive" if/when you swap out cells.
You definitely killed the battery-logics.
You may well be on your way to also kill your motherboard!
