Non-IBM Branded Wireless Card (1802 error) - T43p

#1 Post by ab2525 » Sun Feb 05, 2012 9:19 pm

Hi guys,

I'm trying to use a non-IBM wireless card (intel 2915) in my t43p, and I'm getting the 1802 error. I was wondering if anyone here had a copy of the patched bios that they'd pm me a link to. I found a link to a certain third-party hosting site, but it's expired. The filename I've been looking for is "TP-7U_SLIC21_NO_1802.zip" but whatever works on the t43p would be great.

Thanks in advance! :)

Welcome to the forum!

Why don't you just get an IBM-issued 2915ABG, they're $10 or less nowadays?

Thanks for the welcome! :)

I'm in a situation where I can't buy anything additional, I can only use the hardware we already have. I was also looking at guides to just modify the subsystem ID of the card itself. Are these effective on the t43p/2915abg combo?

I'm not sure I understand, but whatever you say... :??:

How did you end up with a non-FRU'd card in the first place if you haven't bought it?

My point being, is it really worth possibly bricking a machine over a $10 wireless card?

AFAIK, those ID modifications don't play well with the T43 BIOS, but I haven't tried one myself...

Good luck.

I'm in an educational institution, and these are machines that were destined for the trash. I snagged a few for myself for classroom use, but we're only allowed to use the "preapproved" 2915 adapters (which are not IBM) in the building.

Yeah, subsystem change didn't seem to fix anything.

I suppose I'll continue to keep an eye out for the bios mod, or hope someone PMs me a link.

Thanks!

If someone sent you a card for free, would you be able to use it?

Yeah, definitely. I just can't submit a Purchase Order for a component. :)

That would be so awesome!

Hi! Doesn't the "no-2010" error BIOS Mod also get rid of the white list?
