Display defualts to external VGA on boot - T21

#1 Post by Wamphyri » Wed Apr 13, 2005 12:21 pm

Wonder if anyone can help.

I have 3 x Thinkpad T21 laptops which boot as normal (clean O/S install with driver downloaded from the IBM site) but when the desktop is loaded they switch to external VGA mode and shuts the TFT panel down so I have to Fn & f7 EVERY time I start the laptops up. I have other T series Thinkpads which do not do this and have compared the Bios settings to find they are all identical. There seems to be no difference between these 3 laptops and the others to give a reason why they don't keep their screens live when they boot.

Does anyone have any ideas?

This doesn't appear to be a BIOS setting but a windows one as the change doesn't take place until Windows is finished loading.

Check the display settings, right click on the desktop and see what the primary display is set as.

Sorted now, a Bios flash did the trick so it must have been something IBM fixed in the Bios since whetever version was previously running on them.
