T42 IDTech & LG IPS?
Hello,
Wondering if someone can help me clarify something...regarding T42's and the SXGA+ IPS displays. Were both IDTech and LG SXGA+ displays offered for the T42? When i look at the T42 Service Parts list (found at http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... D=PD011658) it only lists IDTech 92P6680.
However, looking on ThinkWiki (http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/TFT_display) it mentions that both IDTech and LG were supplied with T42.
My question is, which is correct? If both were offered, is there any way, short of looking up the S/N, of knowing if a T42 has an IDTech or LG? Were the two panels supplied at the same time?
Thanks!

Re: T42 IDTech & LG IPS?
LG Philips 15" SXGA+ IPS LCD wasn't officially offered until the T43 came along in the spring of 2005.
That being said, any T42 that was
a) Built after March of 2005 (rough estimate on my end) and/or
b) Had the LCD replaced under warranty
could possibly have a LG panel.
ID Tech would be my general preference, especially given the age of T42 range, but at this point in the game it's irrelevant until the machine is actually seen in person, or in a *proper* set of comparison pictures.
As for the serial number lookup, most if not all T4x units have been purged from the database...

Re: T42 IDTech & LG IPS?
Hey George,
Thanks for the quick response
Would i be right in assuming a T42 2374-Z8B would be one of the later manufactured models?

There's no reason to presume anything.
The same sticker that holds the serial and model number holds the production date in the YY/MM format.
