T43 backlight issue

I have a used T43 (2668) 1400x1050 screen. There is a noticeable bright spot that runs from the upper left to the lower right. I assume this is the CCFL tube. I am wondering if this is normal for this model?

No it's not normal, and no it's not a backlight (CCFL).

Without seeing the screen, from what you've described I'm going to presume that the LCD has an internal crack.
