T22 Will Not Power On After Being Plugged-in For Too Long
After I got my T22, the battery pack lasted for just over a year. Then I replaced it with a non-authentic model that would up leaking acid several months after purchase. So I am currently using my system without a battery pack.
When I'm using it, everything's fine. But if I turn it off and leave it plugged-in for a while, it won't power back on. All I get is a quick, one-time blink from the battery and HDD indicator lights when I press the power button. The same thing also happens when I plug it in (the indicator light behavior). If I leave the system alone (not plugged-in) for a few hours, then it'll power on just fine. Also, the system has suddenly switched-off when in standby.
Any advice? I'm thinking it's some sort of built-in protection system.

That system should not be run without a battery- nor with a generic battery.wswartzendruber wrote:After I got my T22, the battery pack lasted for just over a year. I'd start there..

Okay, I just got an authentic IBM battery, but the system still won't come on. I've tried holding down the power button for ninety seconds (as IBM has recommended), but that doesn't cut it. Sometimes pressing it ten times then holding it does work, but more often than not it doesn't.
So my understanding is that this is a problem with a capacitor becoming overcharged. I put the system in the fridge for a few hours and it did nothing. Now I've put it in until morning. I've removed the HDD, network mini-PCI card, battery pack, CMOS battery, DVD-ROM drive, and RAM.
Are there any other solutions? This system was working fine until recently. I'm not very optimistic that chilling it will drain the capacitor and keep it from becoming overcharged.
