network connection on T40 wireless and ethernet

hi i have had my T40 for 1.5 years now and the internet connection has always worked fine. recently i upgraded access connection and also the drivers for both the wireless and ethernet and now my connections are screwed.

it used to be when i would connect to the web (at work-ethernet or at home-wireless), then hibernate my laptop to go for coffee. when i get back and turn my laptop onl, the internet connection would just work. now I cannot connect and have to reboot; i have tried renewing, releasing ip address, exiting access connections and starting again,nothing seems to work. also tried going to odler drivers and older access connections; problem is I upgraded everything at once and tried several versions and don't remember the versions that work.

Any ideas?
