"Improve Battery Health" Feature

#1 Post by warreng24 » Sun Apr 17, 2005 7:46 pm

Hi all... I've got a bizarre question.

The IBM Battery Maximizer Program... Under "Battery Information" when I click on the "Battery Health" button....

My T42 2378FVU has the option to "Improve Battery Health"

However, my friend's T41 2379DJU doesn't have this option.

Both are running the same version of the Battery Maximizer (1.37a)

Both are running the latest BIOS and Embedded Controller.

What could be the problem? Does the T41 just not support "Improve Battery Health?"

Thanks!

My T40 doesn't have the option to use "improve battery health" either. I think that only certain models support this feature, but I don't know why.
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

I believe all "Improve battery health" tries to do is adjust the start charging and stop charging thresholds depending on your usage. Older T series notebooks don't support this, so it's not available.

The battery health works with even the older with T41 hardware, its the battery maximizer which is checking whether the model is a "TRUE" T42 and higher up or not to enable the feature.

Got it working on a T41 board. ( atleast the FRU number of the motherboard claims it is a T41 series, and they put it in a T41 system). The only thing which might be a point to note is this board has a marking made in china, where as I have seen other boards made in Taiwan, dont know if it would make a difference.

Actually, is there a way to change this (charging thresholds) in my T40?
T60p (200784U) - standard (no upgrades... yet)
