changing model number and machine type on T40 (2373-19u)

i recently had my motherboard replaced by EZ-SERV and noticed that the model number and machine type have been cleared. it isn't a huge inconvenience but i can't use access connections or the new software installer. is there any way to change this? i have tried using the 3.15 BIOS update utility but that only allows me to change the machine type.

You need to bring it to a service center so they can run the maintenance disk.

yup, gotta have someone run the maintainence disk. I actually had that same thing happen to me this week, gonna have a tech come by this morning to fix it all up

since ur in the US, (plz put ur Location info IN your Profile so it's there in the future), call 800-IBM-SERV, and they can give you the nearest authorized service center that can do it for you, or if you prefer, they will send out another box......
