Warranty for out of warranty machine?

#1 Post by schenoy » Thu Apr 21, 2005 9:15 pm

Hello,
Does anyone know how and at what cost I can purchase an IBM or reputable third party "depot" warranty? My machine is out of initial 1 year warranty by 2 months, and had a hard drive failure, which I replaced on my dime. IBM website only seems to list options and prices for machines that currently are still "in warranty". Anyone know how to do this?
Thanks!
Steve
p.s. I have a T41, type 2378-DHU

Yes, but it costs too much to pay off.

I don't get this at all!

Adding two years of depot level warranty to a T42 would cost US$321. Not cheap, but not that bad either if you think of it as insurance.

If you meant that there would need be some sort of payment to the IBM employee to obtain this coverage, that's not the case. IBM's definition of "business use" is quite broad.

In any case, if IBM gives anyone grief about "business use" when ordering (or doesn't like the Freelance Writer angle, I will put you on the payroll of my company as a freelance Hardware Reviewer for .01/year. :-)

Actually, James, that .01/year is the SALARY (they don't call me Generous for nothing!), but in YOUR case, you gotta PAY
