Hello,
I have inherited a T41 (type 2378-DHU) with a failed hard drive. It was 2 months out of warranty. I replaced the hard drive, its now good to go. I have the xp pro sticker on the bottom of machine. I have a XP "home" installation cd from my Dell Desktop. I installed that on the T41, went smooth. Registered with the sticker Windows key.

Ethernet, wireless card, basically all communications devices are inactive. No "IBM Access" with blue button, etc.
I was given no cd's with this machine.

Which drivers (images) do I need to bring it back to IBM out the doorfactory specs? I went to IBM website, and downloaded several that seemed promising, but no luck when I tried to bring the devices online that had "yellow exclamation marks" next to them in hardware device profiles. Searched for drivers from CD, and nothing ?
Could use some expert help, please, I'm winging it, on how to bring this back to life like it was factory set.
Thanks!
Steve

You should order the restore CD from IBM. This cost around $45.00. It will install Windows XP Professional and all IBM utilities for you.

You should get a Windows XP pro from someone and use the serial from the bottom of the computer to install.

I am surprised that even your ethernet is not working. If you can get the ethernet driver from some other computer and get internet access, just download the Thinkpad software installer and it will automatically download all the drivers and utilities needed for your computer.

Or.. pay $45 and get the recovery CDs.
