T43 Buying Advice needed.

#1 Post by KamikazeKunze » Sat Jul 07, 2012 9:14 pm

Hello,

I'm new to the community. I'm really going to like it here.

I got turned on to Thinkpads with a T400 as a contractor a couple years ago. I had been a huge Mac fan for the last decade. I now have a T420 for work as does my wife and our boys have T61's refurb's.

My question is I found a T43 2ghz on CL for $50. Is there anything I should be aware of with this model or should I save the fifty bucks and use it towards another T61? Our oldest daughter just needs something for homework and some Netflix watching.

Thanks for any and all input. :D

Welcome to the forum!

I suggest some reading of this (T4x) forum stickies before spending any money on a T43. Fifty bucks is not a bad deal for a working machine, not in the least, but check it out thoroughly.

Presuming an unit ATi graphics (a 7-character model number from the bottom sticker would help) it will be fine for Netflix.

Happy shopping.

Hey all,

The exact model number for the unit I am looking at is 2668-6CU.
Does this help narrow it down a bit?

Thanks again

Thanks Neil 8)
I'm going to try an pick up the unit tomorrow. I also found a non wide screen Lenovo monitor (19") for $25. So My daughter should be set as the T43 I'm looking at has two power supplies, a docking station, keyboard and mouse!
This shouldn't be to bad for a total outlay of $75.

Thanks for the information it is appreciated.

Max out the RAM at 2GB (DDR2 is cheap nowadays) and your daughter will have a machine to play with for quite some time...

Do you mean: http://denver.craigslist.org/sys/3096705987.html ? $25 is a bargain. It was posted on June 23rd and I'm surprised that it's still not sold. $50 for the T43 is a good deal as well.

Thanks for everyones help and replies, but both parties I have contacted on CL are very strange. Either it is too much trouble to sell or the have sold and are not replying to my inquiries.

So, I am passing on the T43's and going to pimp out my T61 instead.

Thanks again.
