Transplant T41 wireless card
I have a trusty T40 that I have to use an external card for wireless. I have a T41 with a built in wireless card that has a dead MB. All the stuff seems to be in the T40 to use the internal card. Can I just migrate it from the T41? What problems might I need to address?

Welcome to the forum!
The card is plug and play, you'll just need to load the appropriate drivers.
When swapping the card, write down the FRU number that is on it and post it here so we can guide you to the applicable driver.

Re: Transplant T41 wireless card
Well, after struggling with a variety of issues, most not computer related but including a failing keyboard in ye old trusty T40 I got the wireless card in and it is a FRU 917267. So what are the drivers I need and where do I find them?SFSecurity wrote:Thanks. Will do.

Here you go:
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc ... wc89ww.exe
After downloading and extracting the driver, you must go into C>Drivers>Win>Wlanint and run the setup file from there.
The card in question is Intel 2100B which is getting pretty long in the tooth nowadays, though...you may want to consider upgrading it to something more recent...

As I'm getting "long in the tooth" myself it might just be the perfect fit.
The T40 is not my "be-all" computer and rarely actually needs to connect wirelessly except at clients who have, for the most part, older wireless routers. Mostly I use an Ethernet cable so as long as it is less hassle than having to put my old Airbus card in and get it cranked up, I'm just fine. Besides it weighs less than my T61 and is in XP, which the largest majority of my clients are still using so I'm happy.
Best,
Allen

Just in case you change your mind, a b/g (b= theoretical 11 Mb/s, g= theoretical 54Mb/s, yours is b only) replacement card can be had for about $20 shipped off ebay.
