T40 Wireless Lan Adapter No IP Address or IP Configuration

Hi I have a T40 and recently installed a Cisco Mini wireless Lan card. Old one went bad
Running XP Pro SP3 I recently did all the latest updates

At first I was unable to get the WPA mode to come up in windows mode but got that working Now I am having issue with an endless loop of the Lan card trying to aquire an IP Address
or no Ip configuration It connects at very good signal strength but will not finalize the IP mode

Tried to uninstall and re-install but get the same result. I followed an older thread on here re the topic about no WPA not WEP with an older driver but I have already installed eh latest from Lenovos site

Get a wifi BG card, such as the Intel 2200BG.
As long as it has an IBM P/N or FRU on it, it'll work.
