disable memory test

can this be done on my t42? I didnt see an option to turn it off in the bios.

My T40 has this option, so I guess your T42 also has. In the BIOS>Config>Memory>Extended Memory Test: Disable

That was set at disabled when I checked, so i figured that just extends the memory test, wont disable the memory test itself.

Oh, I see. Well, the normal memory check takes like a sec, so I don't see the point why would you like to disable it. BTW, AFAIK there is no such option.

I just upgraded to 1.5gb and i've always been a scrooge for quick boot up times.

I just checked my T40's booting, and it doesn't show any memory testing, doesn't even show the amount of memory my TP has. Just shows the IBM ThinkPad logo, and the Intel logo.

Try this: In the BIOS>Startup>Boot Mode>Quick

G-MAN is right, two modes, quick or diagnostic, latter will take a memory test
