Where to purchase a 9 Cell battery for a T43 (or T42)?

#1 Post by baertracks » Sun Apr 24, 2005 8:57 am

I would like to purchase a 9 cell extended battery for my T43 (266897U). I have noted from a previous post that "T43 models have [9cell] batteries with about 10% more capacity than T42 (7.2 vs. 6.6), but take more power to run, so T43 and T42 battery performance are about the same. "

The parts number listed by IBM at http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.ws ... -FRU#reset for the T43 and T42 batteries are as follows:
T43 Sanyo 92P1077
T43 Sony 92P1073
T43 Panasonic 92P1069

T42 Sanyo 08K8198
T42 Sony 92P1013

My preference would, of course, be to purchase the battery that is specifically made for the T43 (92P1077, 92P1073, or 92P1069)
. However, I am having a hard time finding a good source (and reasonable price) for these batteries. Does anyone have a suggestion about the best place to purchase a T43 specific battery?

Or, would I get a much better deal, price-wise that is, by purchasing a T42 battery (08K8198 and 92P1013) and sacrificing a bit of battery life running it in my T43?

My working setup, btw, is described in my signature.

I checked on Froogle, and it looks like not a whole lot of places are offering the 9-cell for the T43 yet. You may not be able to find one for $100 (the price of a T40/1/2 9-cell at Newegg) until the battery manufacturers ramp up production on the new ones.
