T41p new arrival, new problem.

Hi all,

I recently bought a T41p from Ebay, its absolutely beautiful and I was really pleased especially considering the price, which was less than £20. The advert implied that all it booted fine, and all it needed was a hard drive.

Sadly, it doesn't even boot. There's no beeps and no life on the screen. The power light turns on, both keyboard indicators light up for a second and then go out.

I've tried reseating the CPU, swapping and changing RAM and removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes. I've tried it with an external monitor too, nothing.

I imagine I might have to return it, but I was wondering if there was anything I've overlooked in the hope of getting it working.

Chances are that the board has dies, likely due to a well-known GPU detachment issue.

Return the poor thing.
