T42 - Low battery voltage

#1 Post by magic14 » Thu Aug 30, 2012 4:31 am

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on a problem I am having.
A friend of mine is having trouble with her laptop. She went to turn it on and she got one long four short beeps. She turned it off and then everything started up fine. Eventually it went off again and gave the beeps again.
After searching I told her to try the sudden death power trick that many seem to report , after doing this the laptop started but then stated "No operating system found".
This message has now gone away and it's back to the one long four short beeps again.
So any ideas please? I've seen that many say that buying a new battery hasn't solved the issue but usually the sudden death trick has worked. So not sure if it's a waste getting a new battery.
TIA :D

Welcome to the forum.
Does it start just on mains, without the battery?

Without any RAM, does it beep 1-3-3-1?
