new t42 question

well i just received my new t42 23739xu in the mail today. im in the process of checking all the parts of my computer and making sure everything looks right.


i was examining the lcd screen and hinges and i have a quick question just to see if it looks right. on the bottom left hand corner of the lcd there is a metal hinge...directly next to the right hinge, does everybody's t42 have some sort of visible black tape-likecable or strip (not sure what the function is) that connects the underside of the screen to the main part of the laptop (just look closely next the hinge, its about 2-3 cm to the right of the hinge).

sorry if this seems like an anal question but i just wanted to make sure my comp is normal. it looks like the contruciton would be better if they had a piece of plastic covering this tape-like cable or strip instead of just having it exposed.

any input would be appreciated, this forum has already been very helpful with my prepurchase questions which is great.

Yes, that is normal. I've had my T40 for almost 2 years now and the exposed cable hasn't ever been a problem

my cable has some visible creases on it. does yours have the same?

I don't see any creases on my cable. It looks like one smooth continuous piece. However, I wouldn't worry about it. So long as the cable isn't being continuously bent back and forth, the connections won't break.
