Will my old hdd work in a different T43?

#1 Post by madcattx » Thu Sep 13, 2012 1:00 pm

I have a T43 266844U with a WD2500BEVE hard drive. This laptop got wet and won't power on. I am wondering if I can get another T43 266846U and replace its drive (60gb) with my old hard drive. If so, what steps do I need to take to make this work?
Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

As long as your old hard drive was not damaged by the liquid that killed it's host, you should be just fine swapping the old hard drive into another T43. The "new" T43 doesn't have to be the exact same model (type), but if it has the ATI GPU and is similarly configured, it should work fine without any extra steps. You might have to download and install a driver or two for any different hardware, but that should be it.
Collection = T500 - R400 - X300 - X200 - T61 (14" WXGA+) - T61 (14.1" SXGA+) - T60 (15" SXGA+) - X40 - T43p - T43 - T42p - A30P - 600E
